Apples iPhone 15 lineup - Whats new?

Firstly when will the iPhone 15 lineup be announced?

Apple is poised to host the event on September 12, 2023, with anticipated preorders commencing on September 15.

Here are the expected updates that will impact the iPhone 15 lineup.

iPhone 15:

• Available in standard size (6.1") and a plus model (6.7").

• All iPhones will adopt USB-C in order to align with EU regulations.

• The dynamic Island, introduced in 2022 on the iPhone Pro models, will supplant the current notch design on all non-pro models.

iPhone 15 Pro:

• The Pro variant will be offered in the usual size (6.1") as well as the Pro Max iteration (6.7"). • Utilization of titanium frames. • Reduced bezels, translating to a larger display.

• Enhanced curvature along the edges. • Improved camera zoom capabilities.

• Inclusion of a programmable action button, replacing the mute switch.

• Anticipate potential enhancements like a brighter, clearer display as seen in previous years, accompanied by a larger battery.

Now, let's talk pricing details.

It's projected that the iPhone 15 range will maintain the same launch prices as the 14 range. This implies that the 6.1" iPhone 15 will likely start at $799, while the larger 6.7" Plus model is expected to start around $899.

On the other hand, the iPhone Pro series is anticipated to see a price hike. The Pro version's starting price might be set at $1,099, reflecting a $100 increase from the iPhone 14 Pro. The Pro Max model could start at $1,199, signifying a $200 rise from the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Should you upgrade?

For existing iPhone 14 users, upgrading might not be imperative. The enhancements appear to be incremental and unlikely to significantly impact day-to-day usage. The adoption of USB-C might be the most compelling reason to upgrade, but it's important to note that the lightning cable could still be necessary for other Apple devices unless they too are upgraded. If you use your iPhone for taking lots of videos it may be worth upgrading as the new USB-C will allow much faster transfer speeds for you to get your videos off your phone.

Additional points to consider:

• Apple plans to implement USB-C charging for the AirPods lineup.

• USB-C technology allows for heightened data transfer speeds, with USB-C (3.2) capable of up to 20Gb/s, a substantial improvement from the previous 480Mb/s.

• The likelihood of SIM card tray removal expanding to more countries in the current year.

• Rumors abound regarding improved repairability across the entire iPhone range, potentially leading to reduced repair costs.
